From April 5 to May 26 the PACE Center is hosting an art exhibit entitled Tom Lundberg and Maddy Weisz: Embroideries and Drawings. The artists will visit the PACE Center on Thursday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. for the opening reception as part of the PACE Center’s new Third Thursdays series in downtown Parker. The evening includes a chance to meet the artists and hear live country music performed by singer Robin Jo Leady. Light appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.

“Embroideries and Drawings exhibits both newer and older works by Tom Lundberg and Maddy Weisz. Pieces were specifically selected to highlight the breadth of their individual art practices,” says PACE Center Art Curator Kirsten Stoltz. “One of our goals for the visual arts program at PACE is to celebrate regional talent that showcases Colorado as a place full of creative innovation and with this goal in mind we are thrilled to feature two of Colorado’s finest.”

Preconceptions about embroidery are immediately eliminated upon entering the PACE Center to view Tom Lundberg’s work. The meticulous detail and colors reel the viewer in on each piece. Lundberg said of his artistry, “The medium of embroidery carries memories of ritual and comfort. Stitched textiles offer perspectives on the subjects of time and vulnerability. Even small pieces of cloth can reveal fragments of life’s large and expansive rhythms.”

Writing about Lundberg’s work, Sunita Patterson, former editor of Fiberarts magazine, said “Each work reflects an intriguing balance between the spoken and the unspoken. Seen on the wall or on the page, each work has a quiet depth, inviting continued reflection.” Lundberg is a Professor of Art at Colorado State University and coordinator of the degree programs in fiber media. He is represented by Hibberd McGrath Gallery of Breckenridge.

The exhibit also features drawings by Maddy Weisz. Trained in landscape architecture, Weisz is an accomplished professional printmaker. Her love of gardens, architecture and nature, and her keen interest in design continue to be strong inspirations for her drawings, paintings and prints.

Enjoy art and music at the PACE Center every third Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., April through October. View the full Third Thursdays event schedule at www.PACEcenteronline.org.

The PACE Center is located at 20000 Pikes Peak Ave. in Historic Old Town Parker.
