Although there are currently no dog parks in the Town of Parker, the Recreation Department has researched several potential dog park sites in the Town over the last several years. While a dog park remains a very high priority with our citizens, Town Council and staff, we have been unable to find a suitable site that would meet the long-term needs of the community. Much of the Town’s open space areas are use-restricted with either existing conservation easements or Federal Endangered Species issues. In addition, over the last several years as a result of the economy, the Parks and Recreation Department’s capital projects budget has decreased significantly. While we remain optimistic, realistically we are probably several years away from constructing a dog park.
To ensure that construction of a dog park remains a high priority, it’s always helpful if concerned citizens contact our Town Council representatives to make sure they understand the need for such a facility.
